public service announcement
i am taking a break from tumblr, for the time being.
this past year, i’ve been doing a lot of damage control to work on my mental health issues and issues in my personal life, particularly with my family and friends — at least, as much as i can do while taking 20 credit hours at the same time. i’m realizing now how much i still need to do, and i want to be able to fully commit to that this summer, when i can have the time to do so.
tumblr is at odds with that commitment, because lately, looking at tumblr has been exacerbating my depression… it’s monotonous, mundane, and reminds of the things i don’t have… not to mention posting on tumblr feels like yelling in a soundproof vacuum. it just feels pointless to engage in something that makes me feel this terrible right now, so i’m not going to.
i’m going to let the queue run out (it’s 2 a day, 4 and 8 pm), and then this blog will essentially be on hiatus. feel free to like/reblog, continue to follow, follow (if you really want to), and message me off-anon, as my blog will just be turned off from being viewed. i want to keep the blog for archiving purposes, but i am also considering deleting it… we’ll see how it goes.

Before Bad Brains, the Sex Pistols or even the Ramones, there was a band called Death. Punk before punk existed, three teenage brothers in the early '70s formed a band in their spare bedroom, began playing a few local gigs and even pressed a single in the hopes of getting signed. But this was the era of Motown and emerging disco. Record companies found Death's music— and band name—too intimidating, and the group were never given a fair shot, disbanding before they even completed one album. Equal parts electrifying rockumentary and epic family love story, A Band Called Death chronicles the incredible fairy-tale journey of what happened almost three decades later, when a dusty 1974 demo tape made its way out of the attic and found an audience several generations younger. Playing music impossibly ahead of its time, Death is now being credited as the first black punk band (hell…the first punk band!), and are finally receiving their long overdue recognition as true rock pioneers.
This is playing at Hollywood Theatre the weekend of July 5th and I'm super stoked.

- cotard delusion - [walking corpse syndrome] when you think you're dead, that you're missing organs or think you're decomposing
- autassassinophilia - when you have to do something dangerous or violent to be turned on
- fregoli delusion - when you think everyone around you is one person wearing lots of disguises
